Empowering African Girls and Women in Science, Business and Leadership:

Career Lessons from Female Professinals

While women and girls lag behind globally in science and technology fields, the disparity in sub-Saharan Africa is even more acute; only 30% of researchers in R&D are women, according to the WHO. In 2015, the African Union adopted the science, Technology & Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024 (STISA 2024), further highlighting the need for girls’ & women’s contribution to Africa’s growth and development through participation & leadership in science, technology and innovation.
